In a tweet, Respawn confirmed that both single and akimbo Mozambiques were nerfed. Akimbo Mozambiques were introduced in Season 22 and quickly became overpowered. Though many expected the nerf in the mid-season update, that patch instead focused on balancing the Legends and adding new events.
The Mozambique had become particularly effective due to its high rate of fire, magazine size, and range. The update reduced the rate of fire across all bolt rarities and cut the single Mozambique’s magazine size to five and the akimbo version’s to ten. Additionally, a larger blast pattern scale now reduces the weapon’s effectiveness at longer ranges, and the projectile size for akimbo Mozambiques has been aligned with other shotguns.
While these changes are welcome, some fans are frustrated that the single Mozambique was also nerfed, as they felt only the akimbo variant was overpowered. Despite this, the Mozambique remains highly effective, as its damage output was left unchanged. Players have noted that it’s still dominating matches. Meanwhile, others are eyeing the dual-wield P2020, which has yet to be adjusted, as a potential new favorite.
