The developer behind PUBG Mobile has confirmed that Palworld will soon be available on mobile devices, with a port of one of 2024’s most talked-about games now in the works. Thanks to a new licensing agreement between Krafton and Pocketpair, the popular Pokémon-inspired survival game will make its mobile debut. This announcement follows the surprise release of Palworld on PlayStation 5 and comes during a legal dispute between the game’s developers and Nintendo.
Since its official release in early 2024, Palworld has garnered significant attention and success on both PC and Xbox. Praised for its unique blend of vibrant visuals and survival mechanics, it became a hit, especially after launching on Microsoft’s Game Pass service. The idea of a game that combines elements from Pokémon with guns captivated players, making Palworld one of the most-played titles on Steam. While its player count has since dropped, the game remains popular, leading to its release on PlayStation 5 and soon on mobile devices.

According to Krafton, the team at PUBG Studios is dedicated to faithfully adapting Palworld for the mobile platform, ensuring that the game’s core fun elements are preserved. While a specific release date has not yet been announced, Palworld fans can look forward to enjoying the game on handheld devices soon. This news, however, comes at a turbulent time, as Pocketpair, Palworld’s developer, faces a lawsuit from Nintendo over alleged similarities to the Pokémon franchise.
Nintendo claims that Palworld infringes on several of its patents, although Pocketpair has stated they have not yet received clear details on the alleged infringements. In an interview, Pocketpair’s Global Community Manager, John “Bucky” Buckley, discussed the company's rapid growth and its reaction to Nintendo’s legal action. “It’s been an absolute whirlwind," Buckley said, reflecting on how quickly things escalated after the game’s launch. He emphasized that Nintendo’s lawsuit would not alter the studio’s plans for Palworld, stating, “We refuse for any plans to be changed. We march on.”
While Palworld has seen success on PlayStation 5, it has not yet been released in Japan, where the game is particularly popular. Buckley hinted that the legal battle with Nintendo may already be impacting the game's availability in the region. Despite the uncertainty surrounding its future, the confirmation of a mobile version is a positive sign for fans of the title.
