Bungie has announced a wave of new content and significant adjustments to the Crucible in Destiny 2, set to arrive with the launch of Episode: Revenant this October. As the current episode nears its conclusion, there's a growing sense of excitement within the Destiny 2 community. With the Echoes storyline recently wrapping up, Bungie is gradually unveiling details about Episode: Revenant, which shifts the focus back to the Scorn and their leader, Fikrul the Fanatic.
Though the full list of patch notes is yet to be revealed, it's clear that Bungie has ambitious plans for Episode: Revenant. The studio has already disclosed several notable changes, including the removal of timegating for the story, allowing all players to progress through Episode: Revenant at their own pace. Additionally, there are substantial tweaks coming to subclass abilities, roaming supers, and a shift towards making Titans embody the classic Tank role more distinctly. This week also brought a look at major updates to the game's PvP mode, Crucible.
In a detailed blog post, Bungie outlined significant changes for the Crucible experience. One of the key updates includes new balancing rules for team lobbies, aimed at ensuring more balanced team compositions and preventing premade fireteams from being split up. Weapon adjustments are also on the horizon, with nerfs targeting Adaptive Hand Cannons, Auto Rifles, and High-Impact Pulse Rifles, which have been dominating the meta. Meanwhile, underperforming weapons like Adaptive Submachine Guns, Precision Hand Cannons, and High-Impact Auto Rifles will receive buffs. Special and Heavy weapons, such as High Impact Machine Guns, Heavy Ammo Grenade Launchers, and Trace Rifles, are also set for minor balancing changes.

The update will also reintroduce the Solitude map to the rotation, albeit with some tweaks to its geometry and spawn locations for improved flow. Players can expect to see Solitude in both the Competitive and 6v6 playlists, but it won't appear in Trials initially, as Bungie gathers feedback.
Episode: Revenant will also bring notable quality-of-life improvements to the user interface. Guardian Ranks will be replaced by class icons, providing clearer information during matches. New callouts, such as an "Assisted By" message, and a weapon icon on player tombstones will help players identify the source of finishing blows. Additionally, the much-criticized Mercy Rule will be updated with an extended window, preventing matches from dragging out once the mercy window has closed.
In response to player feedback, Bungie is also implementing a long-requested change to limit crouch spamming, capping how often players can perform the move. This adjustment, which has been positively received by the community, aims to prevent excessive crouch spamming in gunfights while retaining the ability to use it tactically.
