A recent developer’s conference for Capcom’s R&D team regarding anti-piracy and anti-cheat specifically talks about how mods are essentially the same as cheats while also singling out mods that ‘violate public order and morals’ (aka nude mods).

While Capcom acknowledges that mods can have a positive impact on the games released, the company still warned against mods as a whole, as in their view, how mods are implemented is, in essence, the same as using cheats.

Possibly caused by the incident where a nude mod for Chun-Li in Street Fighter VI was used during a tournament, Capcom stressed that their games’ image could be potentially ruined by mods, by people who don’t know any better thinking that the mods are legitimate costumes.

As such, nude mods are treated just like any other cheat, and any security measures against cheats are also being developed to combat the use of mods on Capcom’s PC games.
