Nintendo Switch 2 Could Feature Dual, Detachable Screens, New Patent Suggests

by Mr.T » Sun Nov 05, 2023 8:34 pm

The Nintendo Switch 2 could feature dual, detachable screens, a recently filed patent suggests.

As reported by Gamerant, the new patent shows a device not unlike the Nintendo 3DS, which features two different screens that can be detached and communicate with one another wirelessly. In addition, the device also features a touchscreen that could be used to operate the console while closed.~

While many are patents that do not turn into actual products, this unnamed device definitely falls in line with the whole Nintendo Switch theme, so there's the chance that some of the features highlighted in this new patent may end up being Nintendo Switch 2 features as well. A device like this, additionally, would make it easy for Nintendo to add DS and 3DS games to the Nintendo Switch Online library.

Very little is currently known about the Nintendo Switch 2 as of now. According to the latest rumor, the console will support NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction, which would put the console's ray tracing capabilities ahead of those of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Frame Generation, however, may not be supported, as Nintendo and NVIDIA are working to implement features that make the most sense for what seems like will be another hybrid system.
